David Mullings, B.Sc,M.B.A.
After studying Marketing and International Business at the University of Miami,
he has become a consultant in the areas of youth marketing, proposal
writing, product development, Internet strategy and alternate revenue source creation.
Random Media LLC was started by David and his brother, Robert, during their
first semester of the MBA program back in Fall 2001. David started college at
the age of 15, after graduating from Campion College in Jamaica. A B.Sc. in Biology
with minors in Chemistry and Religion have given him quite a non-traditional outlook
on life and a very different approach to business. He returned to Jamaica after
graduation to play football (soccer) semi-professionally and work while awaiting the result of his
application to various business schools. He received a scholarship to the University
of Miami School of Business and graduated with his M.B.A. at the age of 22.
Random Media and RealVibez were in full swing and it was clear what life was going
to be about.
He has worked with Jamaica National Building Society, the largest building society in the Caribbean, in various capacities. He was in charge of youth marketing, on the product development
committee, handled all Internet advertising-related proposals, and was a main
participant on the committee for the redesign of the company website. JNBS approached
him to work with them after sponsoring summer activities for RealVibez in 2004 and
being interested in his proposal writing skills as well as the way RealVibez
was promoted to the youth market.
David is very keen on being a role model for young people all
over the World and has made a number of motivational speeches encouraging other
young people to aim high and work hard. He and his brother were featured on the
cover of YouthLink magazine in The Jamaica Gleaner (the largest local paper in Jamaica)
in July 2005 as examples to follow. He was also instrumental in RealVibez being
a media sponsor of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2005, the largest multi-day reggae
show in the Caribbean, alongside sponsors such as BET, Air Jamaica and Cable and
Wireless.
